Finding Pretty Green clothing in the sale is relatively easy as most of the top retailers stock the brand, so January gives you a great opportunity to grab yourself an iconic Parka jacket, branded polo shirt, piece of winter knitwear, some Clarks Originals collaborated shoes or the tremendous range of Liam Gallagher designed and inspired winter coats and denim jackets. The entire range will be available with upto 50% off in places, so make sure that you grab yourself some of last seasons Pretty Green clothing at a much cheaper price than ever before, they wait with baited breath for the new collection that should be available within the next month or so. With the summer on the horizon the knitwear, cardigans, jumpers and zip tops will giveway to t shirts, more polo shirts, beautifully tailored shirts and some thinner cotton jumpers for those spring days or typically British summer days when it is a little chilly.
As Pretty Green continues to grow expect much more choice, and many more collaborations with the ‘Festival’ packs and the Paul Weller collabroation proving popular in 2011. Liam Gallagher is pushing Pretty Green to the forefront of British fashion with his mod inspired cuts and designs so if you’re not already wearing the brand then make sure that you join the rest of the UK in 2012. We’d also like to congratulate the ‘modfather’ Paul Weller and his wife on the birth of their twin boys John-Paul and Bowie. It was Weller’s original style that inspired a young Liam Gallagher in both fashion and music, with Pretty Green also coming from the title of a Weller song. So congratulations again from everyone at Pretty Lyle Green Scott.

Lyle and Scott Winter Gift Guide Now Available
Lyle and Scott have today launched their digital online gift guide which means two things… ONE – Christmas is getting closer and TWO – people (like myself) really best start thinking about Christmas presents and gifts for the family. To help choose Lyle and Scott have released this guide that names the 10 best-selling products on their website, and offers a bit of advice with socks, golf and the new and improved Heritage range before finishing with their last posting date, which seems to be the same as everywhere else – the 22nd of December. Lyle and Scott have a massive variety of clothing available on their website, with more of certain ranges online in a few bigger retailers such as Mainline Menswear and a few other independent retailers.
Lyle and Scott’s gift advice seem pretty basic and simple this year with nothing really obvious missing nor added into the guide to cause a bit of a stir, its all very safe and shows some of the best selling golden eagle branded clothing around.
Pretty Green Knitwear – Perfect Winter Warming Knits
Pretty Green clothing is obviously well known for its polo shirts, graphical brand t shirts and its fearless mod fashion loving leader Liam Gallagher, yet its slightly lesser known range of knitwear simply oozes pure quality and fashion, without really having to shout about it. This winter there is an amazing collection of knitwear that includes jumpers in a number of varieties including half zip, crew neck and v neck, cardigans in full zip front and button front with a low V and shawl neck jumpers that are all available in super soft merino or lambswool adding that little extra element of quality to them. Expect to pay between £100 and £120 for your Pretty Green knitted jumper, which is a slightly higher price that other competition such as Lyle and Scott and Fred Perry however you’re getting a Liam Gallagher picked fabric and cut from either his Green or Black label of Pretty Green clothing. The stitched on logo can be found on the chest of every item, with the circular Pretty Green branding standing out from the rest of the garment.
This year the Pretty Green knitwear should be matched with a button collar shirt or polo shirt which are also both available from the brand, while lower down you have a couple of choice. Sticking with the brand identity you’ll be looking at skinny jeans with desert boots from Pretty Green or Clarks Originals while the more mainstream fashion will see beige chinos or indigo jeans matched with boots for the winter months. Throw a parka jacket, quilted coat or anything from the super popular Penfield and you’ll have a nice mix of winter fashion, and popular brand names to adorn your clothes horse type frame and further enhance the growing reputation of the brand that has again been nominated for yet more awards at globally renowned fashion shows. Pick up Pretty Green knitwear from your local or favourite Pretty Green retailer or stockist, I can guarantee that you won’t be disappointed!
Winter Warmth ‘Down’ Lyle and Scott’s Collection
With the winter set to be really cold this year Lyle and Scott have covered all the bases for you and have produced a couple of down filled jackets in the super popular padded jacket style and this seasons favourite the gilet or bodywarmer. Not exactly cheap compared to the prices usually charged by Lyle and Scott you know that you’re getting warmth and quality with these coats starting at £125 for the gilet and £200 for the coat. With prices of winter coats jumping this year due to the extra warmth placed inside the padding around the two hundred pound mark is probably a fair price, with outdoor specialists Penfield asking for that, and more for their warmest winter coats.
The padded look is very on trend this season alongside the quilted jackets and the rest of the ‘outdoor’ inspiration. With hiking boots, chunky knitwear and the hat, scarf and glove combo becoming huge in the last few weeks due to the change in weather now is the time, if you haven’t already, to invest in a winter coat and my recommendation is the Lyle and Scott down filled padded jacket in black. Match this with pretty much anything this winter be it fashionable with jeans or chinos or trousers for the office this jacket is set to keep you warm and dry and in one of the most popular designer names in the UK at the moment. An alternative is ready for cold but dry weather in the down padded gilet, however this is a fashion piece, and would look a little odd over the top of your suit! Mix this with chinos and a pair of boots with knitwear underneath the gilet and enjoy one of the key looks this winter.
Lyle and Scott is a top brand in the UK at the moment, and is well worth a look this season as there are some absolutely amazing pieces in the autumn winter collection that will either keep you warm, of help you towards the fashions and trends for the season.
Lyle and Scott Trainers and Footwear – Plimsolls Aplenty!
Lyle and Scott in the past two years have introduced an amazing footwear range, that had never even been considered before in their long history. Usually found creating knitted v neck jumpers, and classic cotton polo shirts for golf, and later fashion the footwear was an initial attempt to offer something more for the fans of the Lyle and Scott fashion brand. This took off much faster than they had ever anticipated, and two years on people are still buying the white and black Lyle and Scott plimsolls in their hundreds of thousands, if not millions each year. The golden eagle logo will sell no matter what you place it on, hence the introduction of bags, socks, hats, beanies, scarves, gloves and the footwear…
Designed to remain a classic no matter what the fashion these simple canvas plimsolls have a trainer like rubber sole, occasionally sporting a gum sole in a Superga-esq move, a full canvas upper, lace fastening and golden eagle logo on the tongue. Some retailers have had the same plimsolls made, with an eagle on the outstep, however as far as i can tell these were restricted to Europe, with Sweden and Scandinavia benefitting from these custom designs. As sales grew season by season more styles were launched and before long there was a suede desert boot, deck shoe, Oxford training shoe, leather version, a mid top design and of course the easy variety of coloured canvas with red, sky blue, khaki, navy blue and a rather eye catching checked design. Prices have varied depending on the design, but the price seems to have settled around the £45-50 mark for the basic canvas styles and anywhere up to £65 for the seasonal designs and styles.
Lyle and Scott won’t ever win awards for their innovation, design advances or breakthroughs for the world of shoes, however they will continue to produce some functional and fashionable footwear that will continue to be a bestseller for the brand while ever the canvas plimsole continues to be a prominant part of the current fashion footwear world.
Pretty Green Parka Jacket – Iconic Fashion Coat
The Pretty Green parka jacket must be one of the most iconic pieces within the clothing range, not because of its global popularity, timeless style or provision of winter warmth but because it was the jacket of choice for former Oasis and current Beady Eye frontman Liam Gallagher, who also happens to be the founder, designer and frontman of the Pretty Green clothing brand. Don’t get me wrong, the jacket has a very timeless style due to the fit, and its use as a warm long length jacket for the winter, but personally i doubt that it would be selling to the level that it does had a certain Mancunian not worn it repeatedly in the early days of Oasis back in the mid 90s.
The coat is available in black and chocolate brown this season priced at a whopping £255 - but for this you get a lot of coat and a brand logo from one of the most up and coming menswear brands at the current time, and with the designer name winning the menswear brand of 2010 late last year Pretty Green really is becoming a name that people in the fashion industry are clamouring to get at the moment. ‘A lot of coat’ can be taken in many ways, however the best way to describe the coat is that it carries with it military and arctic inspiration so will undoubtedly keep you warm this winter. The Pretty Green hooded design comes with a fur lining, a detatchable buckle adjusted hood, drawstring waist, hood and hem, adjustable cuffs, angled front flap pockets and the small green Pretty Green logo on the chest, in the instantly recognisable circular design. I’ve not seen it, but ive also heard that the inner lining is embossed with Pretty Green logos which i think would be quite a nice touch for such quality jacket. Don’t just take my word for it, make sure you find a Pretty Green retailer and try this jacket on, you could even get the circular glasses and messy haircut to look like Mr Gallagher himself.
Lyle and Scott – Fashion Based Sportswear Range
Lyle and Scott are constantly designing new ways with which to further expand their brand name into the designer clothing market, and ensure that men around the UK and Europe are all wearing the iconic Lyle and Scott eagle logo whether it be golden, red, green, or part of the new sportswear branding that offers a much more casual feel to the brand, but also gives a nod towards Lyle and Scott’s golfing heritage and their history within sports.
The Lyle and Scott sportswear range was brand new for the autumn winter 2010 season, but appears to the people who like the finer details as a summer autumn range, and a winter spring collection. This is quite a genius move, as the Lyle and Scott brand and collection will remain fresh and new all year round with new stock arriving every season in some shape or form. The sportswear collection is pretty much what it says on the tin. Its a casual collection of sweats and t shirts that include Lyle and Scott branded polo shirts, crew neck t shirts, hooded zip up jumpers, sweatshirts, tracksuits, joggers and jackets that will tie in nicely with the Lyle and Scott footwear and accessories range. Imagine that you want to look designer at the gym, now alongside the fashion for outside of the gym walls Lyle and Scott can kit you out in a full tracksuit, t shirt, plimsolls, gym bag, socks and hat for the casual or exercise times. The younger lads around town have brought the tracksuit bottoms or joggers back, and now mix these with plimsolls or high tops and a very casual yet designer outlook.
So if you want something quite simple, basic and plain yet designer from one of the best British designer labels around at the moment then Lyle and Scott sportswear is for you. Choose from the extensive range of clothing including t shirts, shorts, jogging bottoms, sweatshirts, jumpers, hoodies, zip tops and jackets that all carry the brand new Lyle and Scott crest logo on the chest or thigh. This is truely a casual range not to be missed.
Pretty Green – Green or Black Label?
In a similar move to Lyle and Scott Pretty Green also have their own versions of the Vintage and Heritage ranges – the green and black labels. The Green label is their original designer collection. Full of the t shirts, polo shirts and parka jackets that first caught your eyes two years ago the green label signifies casual clothing, effortless style and Pretty Green branding throughout. This was Liam Gallaghers first foray into designer clothing, and early on the brand had its critics, however they have now converted their scepticism and see Pretty Green as a global brand for the future. Celebrity fans of the Green label include Tom Meighan and Joe Cole and the large branding, graphical logos and designs and eye catching colours simply enhance the collection. The t shirts are all a similar design, with the circular Pretty Green logo on the chest with thumbprints, union jack, polka dots and ray beems used to colour the logo. The polo shirts are a little more subtle, with a small circular embroidered patch logo on the left of the chest in a tonal colour. Mod inspired twin tipped collars and a slim fit design are also found with the polo shirts, giving a nod to the Weller inspired mod era that saw British kings of mod Fred Perry the chosen brand. Green label shirts are also very casual, day to day shirts with checked designs varying from small gingham style checks to the larger almost tartan inspired, compared to the Black label these are also a little more roomy. Parka jackets, windbreakers and denim jackets complete the Green label half of the range, with their ongoing collaboration with Clarks Originals also reaping benefits as the brand tries to break into the commerical footwear market.
The Black label is the brand child of fellow Pretty Green director Nick Holland. Using his tailoring background the Black label is much more of a premium collection that offers tonal black logos but also tailored shirts, pima cotton t shirts and silk ties. The whole ethos of the collection is to be high end and Italian inspired and be perfect for the Pretty Green fan to wear on a night, after appearing casual in Green throughout the day. The use of tailoring, premium fabrics and timeless design does bump the price up a little in the Black label, however if you’re looking for that special, formal shirt or want to carry the mod inspired designs, but offer a high end approach to the fashion then this is without a doubt for you. The polo shirts feature zip collars, extra buttons on the placket and button down collars throughout while the shirts offer long and short sleeved varieties while also promoting an eye catching kaftan for the winter season. Knitwear, parka jackets and harrington jackets are all available alongside the Pretty Green tailored suits that have appeared recently.
The Green and Black labels make up the majority of the seasonal Pretty Green clothing collections however over the years brand frontman Liam Gallagher has made some brilliant connections in the fashion and music world and can currently boast three collaborations or niche collections. The before mentioned Clarks Originals Pretty Green footwear, the Pretty Green Festival collection, offering camouflage trims and designs while the big thing this season has to be the tie up with the modfather himself Paul Weller. The ‘Weller’ collection is a small 18 piece range that offers a variety of shirts, scarves, vests and jackets in the true Paul Weller fashion style. This has given the brand a huge profile lift (as if Gallagher wasn’t enough by himself) and is moving the brand into Europe and around the world at a quicker than expected rate.
Lyle and Scott – Vintage or Heritage?
For those of you who don’t know Lyle and Scott is split into four different collections – vintage, heritage, club and archive. These show a variety of eagle badges with golden, red, green and a much larger golden eagle respectively appearing on the garments for each range. The golden eagle of the vintage collection is by far the most distinguishable logo in fashion at the moment, with plenty of people i see sporting a Lyle and Scott polo shirt, v neck knitted jumper or retro jacket. The golden eagle dates back to the brands original stint in the limelight with Ronnie Corbett, Peter Shilton and a wide variety of golfers all wearing the brand due to its fantastic fits, quality and golfing heritage. Lyle and Scott soon became a household name, as it is now and was the must have fashion piece that every man wanted to have. As with every trend it died off a little and in 2003 a team of designers and passionate sales men brought the retro brand back to life, renaming the fashion collection ‘vintage’ and applying the golden eagle logo to the chest. 2011 also saw vintage take that one step further and launch the sportswear range, a collection that encompasses sweatshirts, joggers, zip tops and polo shirts, with the newly designed logo paying homage to the golfing heritage that has made the brand what it is today.
Lyle and Scott heritage has been re-branded for autumn winter 2011 and now carries with it a red eagle logo on the chest. Originally the brand was seen as a much more subtle sub collection that provided a different option to the golden eagle, with a tonal embroidered badge added to the garment, however it has enjoyed a change of colour and now sees a striking red eagle battle with the golden vintage eagle and green club eagle for supremacy. Both collections are without a doubt two of the best around for autumn winter and plenty of lads will be seen wearing the brand that has topped a variety of polls, best sellers lists and awards ceremonies for the past three or four years. The eagle is set to last for a few years more yet with a new addition to the ranges every year. Recently we have seen socks, canvas trainers, bags, hats, gloves and scarves all added to the seasonal collections with rumours of more of everything and even some underwear making an appearance in the fashion collections.
Lyle and Scott will continue to offer some really fashionable polo shirts, t shirts, knitwear, shirts, jumpers, chinos and trousers, jackets and coats, vests, footwear and accessories for the coming season and beyond so if you’re looking for an easy win in the fashion world then Lyle and Scott is the brand for you – the colour of the badge then just depends if you’re a sheep following the heard or a ‘Red Eagle’ trend setter.
